New case study: Alkalinity measurements in drinking water

The Swedish drinking water company Sydvatten AB faced scaling/corrosion in their pipeline distribution network. Lack of correlation between simple online hardness monitoring and actual alkalinity concentration required both manual analyses and adjustment of process settings to maintain good operation of the plant.

As a result Sydvatten has tested and validated the EZ4004 online alkalinity analyser to automise process control and obtain stable alkalinity values in its final water. The analyser provides 24/7 online results for alkalinity calculated as HCO3 and ensures the correct dosing of softening chemicals based on actual online values after the softening process.

The online alkalinity measurements helps reducing the risk of scaling / corrosion and at the same time improves the control of chemical dosing.
