For nearly a century, Hach® has led the industry in developing state-of-the-art solutions to help you manage your water more efficiently and accurately. Find the latest news on our most recent products and solutions here.
The Hach SL250 is an innovative single instrument that is easy to use regardless of technical expertise. Chemkey reagents use a simplified testing method that requires no sample preparation, making the process significantly easier, faster and safer while drastically reducing variability in results. In addition, you can measure pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity and more on one device.

Effluent monitoring is a requirement for all industries and with BREF/BATC legislation having tightened at the end of 2023, Hach are well positioned to assist you in meeting these challenges. Online COD/TOC, phosphate, and nitrogen (ammoniacal nitrogen) are among many parameters Hach equipt to help you monitor and control.
MCERT's rated analysers and controllers allow online measurements to be made easy with reliable uptimes and complete service solutions to give you confidence you will meet the legislative demands. Not only can this improve your environmental footprint but chemical dosing savings can be made making your return on investment work for you.

The costs of achieving Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP) compliance can be high and our aim is to assist water companies in reducing this cost. Investment in continuous monitoring solutions is a good way of avoiding the consequences of insufficient chemical phosphorus removal, negating adverse impacts, and safeguarding both the environment and protecting sources of water supply.
The first basic principle before considering investing in expensive tertiary treatment stages in terms of cost and carbon emissions, is to optimise your plant and assess what can be achieved with existing treatment processes.
Hach’s Phosphorus Real Time Control system (RTC-P) not only improves compliance for ever tighter phosphorus consents but can also reduce or negate the need for tertiary treatment at wastewater treatment works.

Reliably and accurately measure H2S levels in water and air with our reagent-free GS1440 and GS2440EX hydrogen sulphide sensors.
Continuously measuring H2S levels directly in the water, provides you with the true hydrogen sulphide level in the water itself. A more consistent and reliable indicator than measuring diffused hydrogen sulphide gas concentrations in the air above.
Optimise your hydrogen sulphide treatment process to proactively combat odour, protect valuable assets from corrosion and avoid chemical overdosing.

Hach is excited to launch a new COD cuvette test: LCK1714.
The LCK1714 enables an accurate analysis of COD concentrations from 70 - 250 mg/L COD in saltwater samples with up to 20 g/L chloride. Compatible with Hach DR1900, DR3900, and DR6000 spectrophotometers.
The existing LCK1914 cuvettes has been updated to enable analysis of 250 - 1000 mg/L COD.

The world continues to face significant, persistent economic challenges including increased energy and chemical costs on top of more stringent regulations. To help you succeed, the power of Real Time Controls (RTC) software from Hach can now be hosted in the SC4500 controller for even better process management.
RTC hosted on a SC4500 Controller is a complete process optimisation system for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plant operators and managers to operate their plant as efficiently as possible to maintain compliance and minimise risk and operational expenditures.
Benefits of the RTC on the SC4500 Controller include:

Hach is excited to launch a new Ammonium cuvette test: LCK504 (50 mm cuvettes). The LCK504 enables the accurate analysis of NH4+-N concentrations in the in the range 0.005 – 0.050 mg/L.
LCK504 can be evaluated on the DR3900 and the DR6000 spectrophotometers.

Using a Hach Phosphate online analyser, a UK water company was able to assess the capability of a wastewater treatment plant to remove phosphorus and to assist with informing future process design.
The instrumentation was provided for a three month trial in order to assess the accuracy and robustness of the analyser, increase its familiarity with operators and importantly to determine the P removal capability of the process stream up to an including the ASPs.

A few years ago the Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) sampling team experienced intermittent problems with their Quality Control samples resulting in the need for repeated investigation and time lost. The team has been using handheld colorimeters to measure free and total chlorine and a through investigation showed that there were certain users who consistently performed the test better than others. Additional training improved the situation but did not fully solve the issue.
The Solution - SL1000
The Hach SL1000 Portable Parallel Analyser with Chemkey reagents were implemented allowing testing with only half the manual steps as the original technique. It allows highly accurate results with less opportunity for errors, in a fraction of the time. Up to 6 parameters can be tested in parallel.

Monitoring and controlling the sludge recirculation flow rate helped Wear Valley improve output and reduce costs.
In a recent project with Northumbrian Water Ltd, a Hach Solitax sc solids measurement probe was used to monitor and control the sludge recirculation flow rate to maintain a solids setpoint via SCADA on two Lamella clarifiers. The site, Wear Valley WTW, suffered from flow restrictions during peak demand periods due to clarifier performance even with large increases in coagulant use. Recently the site has seen the raw water quality deteriorate due to extreme weather events, which has resulted in increasing chemical consumption and reducing output.
After creating a calculator using the Solitax sc data and flow data, sludge was recirculated to maintain a constant solids dose by manually altering the pump speed.
