EC Medium is a selective and differential broth designed specifically for the detection and confirmation of Escherichia coli and fecal coliforms in water, food, and dairy products using the most probable number method. EC broth is a selective enrichment medium for the isolation of coliforms including E. coli. Coliforms are detected by growth at 37°C, while fecal coliforms are detected by growth at 44.5°C.
